With the 2026 college football season just weeks away, attention is beginning to shift from offseason storylines to the players who will lead their team on the field. No position will carry more weight or importance than the signal-caller.

Ahead of Week 1, Sports Illustrated ranked all 68 projected starting quarterbacks across the Power Four conferences, using previous production as well as projecting what these quarterbacks will be in 2026.

The Gators have not yet named a starter for week one against FAU, but let's see how they stack up against the other 67 Power Four quarterbacks anyway.

Sports Illustrated lists Aaron Philo as the projected starter for the Gators, even though head coach Jon Sumrall has not made his final decision. Philo comes in ranked No. 34 out of all the Power Four quarterbacks, a fairly high ranking for someone with a small sample size like him.

In 2025, Philo started one game for Georgia Tech in which he threw for 373 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while completing 75% of his attempts. If he is named the starter, there should be a level of comfort in the system, as he and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner both came from Georgia Tech in the offseason.
