The sketch comedy featured comedians, dancers and future A-listers like Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez
Created by and starring Keenen Ivory Wayans, In Living Color won an Emmy in 1990 for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series
When In Living Color premiered on April 15, 1990, it revolutionized TV and sketch comedy.
The brainchild of Keenen Ivory Wayans, the groundbreaking series aired for five seasons on Fox and launched the careers of Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and several Wayans siblings. Plus, one of the show's Fly Girls has become one of the most recognizable women in the world.
Decades later, the show has retained its cultural relevance — so much so that co-creator Damon Wayans told PEOPLE in October 2024 that he still had a few of his old costumes on hand, including his Homey D. Clown outfit.
"I haven't put on the suit," he admitted when asked if he's worn it since the iconic show wrapped on May 19, 1994. "But I would if they want to make a movie."
Birthing memorable characters, classic sketches and popular guest performances, here's what the star-studded ensemble cast of In Living Color has been up to 36 years later.

Keenen, the eldest of the Wayans brothers, created the show with his brother Damon and, by proxy, a comedic vehicle for some pretty well-known A-listers. In 1990, he earned an Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series.
Since In Living Color went off the air in May 1994, Keenen has been successfully wearing many hats in the entertainment industry. The comedian is a writer, producer, actor and director, and, in 2014, was a judge on Last Comic Standing.
In February 2025, he and his family were inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.
Keenen has five children — son Keenen Jr. and daughters Daphne, Bella, Nala and Jolie — whom he shares with ex-wife Daphne Wayans (née Polk).

Alongside his brothers, Damon created some particularly iconic sketches, characters — including the Head Detective and Homey D. Clown — and catchphrases ("Homey don't play that!").
Damon has continued to make audiences laugh, whether through stand-up comedy or on shows like My Wife and Kids. From 2016 to 2019, he starred on Lethal Weapon as Roger Murtaugh, and in 2024, he joined his son, actor Damon Wayans Jr., on the comedy series Poppa's House.
The comedian shares four kids with his ex-wife Lisa Thorner: sons Damon Jr. and Michael and daughters Cara Mia and Kyla.

The fifth film was 1996's Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.
He and Marlon reunited with Keenan to write Scary Movie 6, set to hit theaters in June 2026.

In the music world, Lopez has had several chart-topping hits, including her 1999 debut single "If You Had My Love," 2002's "Jenny From the Block" and 2011's "On the Floor" featuring Pitbull. She's also had two Las Vegas residencies.
Lopez shares two children, twins Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony. She was engaged to Alex Rodriguez from 2019 to 2021, then gave her early-2000s romance with Ben Affleck a second chance — the two wed in Las Vegas in July 2022 but split in April 2024 before finalizing their divorce in January 2025.

Foxx's comeback comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, premiered on Netflix in December 2024, chronicling a medical emergency he suffered in April 2023. He returned to work in January 2024, resuming filming on the 2025 flick Back in Action opposite Cameron Diaz.
