- *Twisted Metal* is bidding farewell to one of its original stars ahead of season 3.

- "I am very kind of heartbroken about it. I love the show," Mitchell told fans.

*Twisted Metal* might look a little different when season 3 rolls around.

Fans of the post-apocalyptic car combat saga are going through some serious road rage after series star Mike Mitchell announced that he will not be reprising his role as Stu in the show's third season.

On the April 9 episode of his Doughboys Media podcast, Mitchell told fans, "I don't think I'm going back to the third season of *Twisted Metal*. And I am very kind of heartbroken about it. I love the show."

The podcast, which sees Mitchell and co-host Nick Wiger argue about chain restaurants and everything else under the sun, has previously celebrated the release of a new *Twisted Metal* season with themed months that they dub, "Twisted Monthal." In tandem with the first and second seasons, they welcomed writers and some of Mitchell's costars to discuss the show, including Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, Lisa Gilroy, and co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith.

Venting his frustration over the decision to cut Mitchell, Wiger chimed in to say, "They're gonna do the show without Stu. They've made the executive decision that creatively, financially, we don't want Mike Mitchell a part of this show. We want to move on without him, as crucial as Stu and Sweet Tooth's relationship has been — the emotional core of the past two seasons — they're like, 'Forget about that, we're going in a different direction.'"

Mitchell then clarified that he does not feel "bitter" over the decision but "wanted to get" the announcement "out of the way" just so fans would be aware.

Wiger quipped, "I'm sure it'll never come up again."

Mitchell went on to explain that he was not being singled out, noting that the show has undergone a creative overhaul that included a new showrunner being added and several department heads and members of the writing staff being let go.

Last year, when* Twisted Metal *was confirmed for a third season, Peacock announced that David Reed (*The Boys*, *Supernatural*) would be taking over as showrunner and executive producer.

Following the announcement on their podcast, Mitchell's cohost celebrated his performance on the show, adding, "You say you're not bitter, I think all of us are bitter. This is f---ing bullsh-- and it sucks. And it's not fair and our industry is broken."

Wiger went on to encourage fans to vent their own anger with the hashtag "NoStuNoStream."

*Twisted Metal,* based on the classic Playstation franchise, is a high-octane comedy centered around a violent, post-apocalyptic demolition derby tournament. Among its stars are Stephanie Beatriz, Anthony Mackie, Joe Seanoa, and Anthony Carrigan.
