WASHINGTON ‒ President Donald Trump said he's preparing measures to "ban" large-scale institutional investors from buying single-family homes, and will be seeking action from Congress on the issue as he looks to lower housing costs for Americans.
Trump teased his plans in a Jan. 7 post on Truth Social that was sparse on detail about the new policies.
Trump said the "American Dream" of home ownership is "is increasingly out of reach for far too many people, especially younger Americans."

"It is for that reason, and much more, that I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it," Trump said. "People live in homes, not corporations."
Trump said he plans to discuss the topic further at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, which takes place Jan. 19-23.
This is a developing story.
