We finally have a new look at the latest chapter in the Spider-Verse saga.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse debuted new footage at Sony's CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on Monday.
Directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson took the stage at Caesar's Palace alongside franchise producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller to introduce a scene from the beginning of the third and final chapter in the trilogy.
The footage picks up right where 2023's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse left off, with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) stranded on Earth-42, where an alternate Miles (Jharrel Jerome) masquerades as the villainous Prowler.

The footage begins with a helicopter soaring overhead as Miles says, "There's no Spider-Man here." We see Miles with his uncle Aaron on a rooftop, where the Prowler leaps in and knocks our protagonist unconscious.
Miles (our Miles, that is) wakes up tied to a punching bag and pleads with Aaron, who turns the bag toward the Prowler.
"Who are you?" Miles asks
"I'm Miles Morales," the other Miles says as he powers up his glove. "But you, you can call me the Prowler."
"You have to let me go," Spider-Miles says.
"Why would I do that?" Prowler-Miles asks as he holds his glove up to the punching bag, sending an electric charge through the chains. "Who are you?"
"I'm Miles Morales," our Miles responds.
Prowler-Miles disses his pronunciation of his last name. "Morales, you can't even say it right. You gotta roll the R, dude. Morales."
A fast-paced conversation ensues, in which Spider-Miles tries to explain the concept of canon events and that he expects his father to die in two days.
"What the hell is a Spider-Man?" Aaron asks.

"He's a super hero," Spider-Miles explains.
"That sounds even dumber," Prowler-Miles says before his heroic counterpart glitches.
"My atoms don't like being in this dimension," Spider-Miles says. "I don't wanna hurt you."
"You're pretty mouthy for a guy chained to a bag," Prowler-Miles says.
"You know what they say: don't watch the mouth, watch the hands," Spider-Miles responds as he blasts his captors with a burst of electricity and escapes.
The footage then cut into a rapid-fire teaser with a wide variety of footage from multiple scenes in the movie, including a shot of a car flying over a drawbridge as it raises, Miles swinging thorugh the city, Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) asking Spider-Ham (John Mulaney) to hold his baby ("Gladly, but I'm all out of milk"), and Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya) establishing the overwhelming challenges that Miles faces in voiceover: "Save your dad, beat Spot, shake Miguel's whole gang by yourself?"
"It's just what heroes do," Miles responds.
The footage ends with words of encouragement from Miles' mother, Rio (Lauren Vélez): "You're not tough, you're strong."
The animated Spider-Verse series kicked off in 2018 with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which saw Miles grapple with the death of his universe's Spider-Man (Chris Pine) as he gained spider-powers of his own and fought the Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) alongside an eclectic group of interdimensional web-slingers. The film won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and earned over $390 million at the global box office on a $90 million budget.
The series continued with 2023's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which drew Miles into a broader multidimensional adventure as he formed an uneasy alliance with the Spider-Society of multidimensional heroes. The film grossed a whopping $690 million worldwide.
Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally announced as the second half of the Across the Spider-Verse story, and was first titled Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part Two). The film was intended to release in March 2024, just nine months after its predecessor's debut, but was indefinitely delayed during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Beyond the Spider-Verse was eventually rescheduled to open on June 4, 2027, and subsequently bounced to June 18.

The Spider-Verse movies have also launched a number of spinoff projects. Last year, EW reported that Sony and Kaluuya are developing an animated movie centering on Kaluuya's character, Spider-Punk. And Cage is reprising his shadowy role in the live-action Prime Video/MGM+ series Spider-Noir, though the show is expected to take place in an alternate universe from the animated movies.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will land in theaters on June 18, 2027.
