Princess Charlotte Shows Off Charm Bracelet With a “Deep-Rooted” Connection to Princess Diana

Princess Charlotte attended the men’s singles final at Wimbledon on July 12 alongside her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and her older brother Prince George.

In addition to her cornflower blue dress, the 11-year-old royal also accessorized with a charm bracelet.

It is a piece that Princess Diana was also fond of wearing—though it meant so much to her that she rarely wore hers in public settings.

Princess Charlotte has long been described as her mother Kate Middleton’s “mini-me,” and the 11-year-old princess’s cornflower blue Wimbledon ensemble channeled one of the Princess of Wales’s Wimbledon looks from last year.

Alongside Charlotte’s blue dress with ruffle sleeves, on July 12 she wore an accessory that Tatler reported is reminiscent of her grandmother Princess Diana as she joined her parents and older brother Prince George at the iconic tennis tournament for the men’s singles final. Charlotte’s nautical-inspired charm bracelet—which the outlet reported is from Accessorize by M&S—has “a deep-rooted family connection,” the publication wrote.

Diana, too, wore a gold charm bracelet, hers given to her by her new husband Prince Charles soon after their wedding on July 29, 1981. Sweetly, for their first 10 wedding anniversaries, the then-Prince of Wales gave her a new charm—a miniature St. Paul’s Cathedral, where they married; a pair of ballet slippers (no doubt a nod to Diana’s love of dance); a polo cap (symbolizing Charles’s love of polo); a tiny pig (for reasons unknown); and an apple, which was rumored to symbolize her love for New York City, colloquially known as the Big Apple.

Tatler reported that “most sentimental of all” were two simple gold initials—“W” and “H,” standing for Prince William and Prince Harry, their two sons. “The bracelet was so meaningful that Diana seldom wore it in public,” according to the outlet. “Now, it seems Charlotte may be nodding to this touching family tradition.”

Charlotte also wore a charm bracelet to the men’s singles final at Wimbledon in 2025—that one a Pandora bracelet that she personalized with her own selection of charms, including one with her emerald birthstone, as she was born on May 2. Another charm included a rose gold figurine of Nala from The Lion King, which is “a family favorite,” Tatler reported; a third charm was a white heart disc.

Charlotte’s Wimbledon outing Sunday isn’t the first time she has nodded to Diana with her jewelry choices this year. At Trooping the Colour on June 13, Kate and Charlotte wore matching three-strand pearl bracelets; Kate’s is a royal heirloom, a Nigel Milne bracelet that once belonged to Diana, who famously wore it on a royal tour of Hong Kong in 1989. Kate has worn the bracelet multiple times this summer, and Charlotte’s own bracelet nods to the style worn by her mother.

Last December, when Charlotte joined Kate for a heartwarming mother-daughter piano duet that was broadcast as part of the Princess of Wales’s “Together at Christmas” carol concert, Charlotte wore a navy Boden jumper with a hidden tribute to Diana—it is called the “Diana” and “was likely a nod to the late princess’s love of statement collars,” Hello! reported.

Alongside her daughter in blue, Kate wore a custom olive green Emilia Wickstead dress to Wimbledon on Sunday and accessorized with a DeMellier London bag, Ralph Lauren pumps, and a straw hat by LK Bennett, which she first wore at Wimbledon in 2022, according to the fashion site What Kate Wore. The future queen’s earrings were from Van Cleef and Arpels, specifically the Magic Alhambra style in 18K yellow gold and mother of pearl. Like Charlotte, Kate also wore a bracelet—hers by Halcyon Days, What Kate Wore reported.

In 2017, the then-Duchess of Cambridge told the BBC that Wimbledon “was very much part of my growing up.”

“It’s such a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters, myself—it inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game,” she said. “It hasn’t changed, either—I think that’s what’s so wonderful.”

The Wales family—minus Prince Louis—received a “massive standing ovation” as they arrived in the Royal Box at Centre Court on Sunday. Though 8-year-old Louis wasn’t there, he wasn’t far from his mom’s mind. Ball girl Jenna Fontanilla told The Telegraph that she spoke with the Princess of Wales at Wimbledon this weekend, who told her that Louis has aspirations to “become a ball boy, and we were talking about how much hard work it is to be on court and how we work alongside the ball kids, and it’s just so lovely,” Fontanilla said.
