One of the most iconic moments from Haines' reality show Pretty Wild is still going viral, 13 years after it originally aired on E!. In a TikTok posted on June 24, Haines said she is “grateful for all of [the] tags and comments” after audio of her crying from the reality show has become a popular sound on the app.
“I think it’s really interesting that it’s mainly this younger generation using [the audio],” Haines said in the video. "I’m sure that a lot of them don’t have any context about the 'Bling Ring' and Pretty Wild and they’re just using it for their own context, which I think is cool too.”
The 2010 reality show initially aimed to document Haines’ rise to fame alongside her sister Gabby Neiers and close friend Tess Taylor, but took a turn after Haines was arrested for her involvement in “The Bling Ring” robberies that occurred between 2008 and 2009.
Haines and the rest of "The Bling Ring” were arrested for the robberies of the homes of celebrities like Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, among others. Haines pleaded no contest to first-degree residential burglary and served one month of a six-month sentence.
The particular audio getting attention on TikTok was pulled from a clip of Haines’ reaction after she read her interview with Vanity Fair about "The Bling Ring” and clarified that she wore “little brown kitten heels” and not “six-inch Louboutins” to court, as was written in the story. The sound clip was then used on TikTok to clarify people’s fashion choices.
“I think it’s really cool that even 13 years later, this audio is still going viral,” Haines said, sharing that she thought it was “awesome” to see people also dressed up to recreate the moment from the show.
