Milly Alcock knows a thing or two about obsessive fandoms.

The 25-year-old actress, who will star in *Supergirl* this June, has concerns over playing the famed cousin of Superman, Alcock admitted in a new interview with *Vanity Fair** *published Tuesday. She noted, however, that her previous experience on *Game of Thrones** *prequel *House of the Dragon* prepared her for any potential backlash she may receive.

"Of course I’m scared," Alcock shared. "Of course I want people to like me and the movie. But ultimately, it’s out of my control."

Alcock acknowledged that playing a young Rhaenyra Targaryen prepped her for portraying Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, touching on the fact that both characters come from revered franchises with dedicated, and sometimes also critical, fandoms.

"It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies," Alcock said.

"I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself," she added when it comes to how fans will receive her in the feature directed by Craig Gillespie.

While contending with her growing role in the DC Universe, Alcock said she has not reached out to former onscreen Supergirls for insight, such as Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle.

"They’re just people living their lives," Alcock said. "It’s not like we have this blood bond."

*Supergirl* arrives in theaters on June 26, 2026.**
