From her First Lady fashion choices to post-White House looks, Michelle Obama’s style has evolved over the years. But throughout it all, each new silhouette, archival pull, and designer collaboration has come from a consistent place: a desire to communicate who she is and what she stands for through dress.

And now, with the release of her new book The Look, in which she chronicled her style and beauty evolution through images and personal essays, she has given a sweet shoutout to the woman who has helped her achieve that goal.

“Working with Meredith Koop has never just been about clothes—it’s about the meaning behind them,” Obama shared on her Instagram, tagging her longtime stylist. “I’ve long trusted Meredith’s eye, her thoughtful research, and her ability to understand the cultural context behind every look. She helps me communicate through what I wear, always keeping my voice at the center.”

Koop, who co-wrote the book with Obama, has most recently turned to several Spring/Summer 2026 collections for looks straight off the runway. During the press tour, she pulled two ensembles from Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel debut, a pearl-embellished Simone Rocha number, and a blue HervĂ© LĂ©ger bandage dress that called back to both the “Kailua Blue” Obama State China and the former First Lady’s 2008 Democratic National Convention look.

“Writing The Look with Meredith brought that same depth and intention into a new kind of partnership,” she continued. “I’m grateful for the substance, clarity, and care she brought to this book.”
