The 41-year-old NASCAR champion died on May 21 after his severe pneumonia progressed to sepsis, "resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications," the Busch family said in a statement.
Days earlier, a call to 911 was placed from a training facility in Concord, N.C. to report an individual, Busch, had "shortness of breath" and was "very hot" and "coughing up some blood," according to audio obtained by TMZ Sports.
The racing legend, who was in his 22nd full-time NASCAR season, later died at a hospital in Charlotte while undergoing treatment.
