Keanu Reeves is sharing some candid advice for aspiring actors.
"Try not to be a f---ing a--hole," Reeves, who is currently promoting his new comedy Outcome — in which he portrays a lifelong Hollywood star — told E! News in a recent interview for the movie, when asked to share advice for up-and-coming performers in the film industry.
"Go to work and respect who you're working with until they prove they don't get your respect," Reeves, 61, added. "Try not to be [an asshole]. It might not work out, but try."
In Outcome, Reeves' Hollywood actor Reef Hawk learns of an extortion attempt against him from his crisis lawyer Ira, portrayed by the movie's writer-director Jonah Hill. Reef, Ira and Reef's closest friends from childhood, portrayed by Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer, put their heads together to identify figures from Reef's past who may hold a grudge against him, all while Reef worries that negative stories about him will appear on the internet.
Reeves is flanked by a host of Hollywood veterans in his costars Diaz, 53, Bomer, 48, and Hill, 42 — as well as a number of celebrities who cameo in the new comedy — who also offered their advice for young actors while speaking with E!.

"If you're lucky like Reef, surround yourself with friends and keep your friends who maybe knew you before, if you can, who can really ground you and are going to be there by your side through the good and the bad and the ups and the downs of it all," Bomer, who has been acting for the screen since 2000, said.

Diaz, for her part, noted that every person who encounters fame and success experiences it differently.
"I would say there's no handbook or manual on being famous, so you have to write your own and follow your own manuscript," she said. "You got to just make it your own. You can't really do it - you don't know what it's going to be. Reach out to other people that you admire, the way that they do it, and ask them for some advice."

Reeves made his onscreen debut in the 1980s and rose to fame with performances in movies like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Point Break and Dracula, as well as his iconic performances in The Matrix franchise. Outside of Outcome, he most recently appeared in 2025's John Wick spinoff Ballerina and the comedy Good Fortune.
Outcome begins streaming on Apple TV April 10.
