Kanye West pulled back from his planned Marseille show amid fresh pressure. According to a new update, the rapper decided to postpone the concert in France before French officials reached a final public decision on whether he could perform there. The move mattered because the June 11 stadium date had already drawn political opposition in Marseille. It also came after a report said France’s interior minister was exploring ways to block the performance, putting West’s latest overseas booking under immediate strain.
Kanye West confirms postponement of France concert
On X on April 15, Kanye West confirmed the change himself. He wrote, “After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice.” That post gave the clearest public answer on the France concert. It also framed the move as his call, not a forced cancellation. However, the timing still stood out. The announcement landed just after reports that French authorities were weighing whether to stop the show altogether.
As cited in The Guardian report, a source close to interior minister Laurent Nuñez said he was “highly determined” to ban the June 11 concert. The same source said officials were exploring “all possibilities.” According to the report, Nuñez had discussed the issue with the regional prefect and Marseille’s mayor. Earlier, Mayor Benoît Payan had already drawn a hard line. He said he refused “to allow Marseille to be a showcase for those who promote hatred.” He also wrote that Kanye West was “not welcome” at the Vélodrome.

For context, West came under heavy backlash for repeated antisemitic remarks, including public praise of Adolf Hitler and posts widely condemned as hateful. The 48-year-old rapper also released a song titled “Heil Hitler” in 2025 and had previously advertised a swastika T-shirt on his website.
Later that morning on April 15, the rapper posted again on X and shifted to an apology tone. He wrote, “I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends.” West also said, “I take full responsibility for what’s mine,” while adding that he did not want to put fans “in the middle of it.” He then stressed, “My fans are everything to me.” The broader backdrop remained difficult. Britain had already blocked him from entering the country, and Wireless was canceled after his planned appearance there.
