A year of streaming movies begins with a little old and a little new, from George Clooney's 1950s newsman to Jared Leto as a high-tech digital warrior.

The cinematic pickings are notoriously iffy in January but your favorite services like Netflix, Peacock, Hulu, Disney+ and Amazon's Prime Video have got the hookup for every taste. We've got theatrical fare finally coming home, like the latest "Tron" franchise outing, plus original movies like a Netflix rom-com based on a BookTok favorite. Hey, there's even a Broadway show – and you don't even have to brave Times Square crowds.

'Bugonia'

Chuck Krantz (Tom Hiddleston) enjoys a dance with Janice (Annalise Basso) in "The Life of Chuck," based on the Stephen King novella.

Based on the Stephen King novella, director Mike Flanagan's supremely joyous character study – the best movie of 2025 – involves an apocalypse, multiple dance extravaganzas and a haunted attic. Tom Hiddleston plays the accountant whose story unfurls in epic and intimate ways, though the movie is less about Chuck and more about all of us.

Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) scrambles to find his missing daughter in "One Battle After Another."

Boasting a leading nine Golden Globe nominations, director Paul Thomas Anderson’s timely action dramedy is a must-see heading into Oscar season. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a scruffy former revolutionary desperate to find his teen daughter (Chase Infiniti) with an old enemy (Sean Penn) in hot pursuit.

'People We Meet on Vacation'

Emily Bader stars as Poppy and Tom Blyth is Alex in the romantic comedy "People We Meet on Vacation."

Equal parts slasher flick and faux documentary, the horror movie follows the detectives investigating the return of a serial killer named Mr. Shiny, who left a gory trail of victims in the past and is back to torment cops with another murder spree. It's perfect for those who adore Netflix true-crime shows and some freaky cosmic terror.

Dave Franco and Alison Brie plays a couple who have a nightmarish encounter with a supernatural force and grow terrifyingly close in the horror movie "Together."

They get lost in the woods and fall into a strange cave, and afterward the pair realizes that, not only can they not escape each other, they’re growing together in the most squirm-inducing ways possible.
