Céline Dion is back — and putting on her dancing shoes!
On Friday, April 17, the singer, 58, released her first original song in years, titled “Dansons,” which translates to “Let's Dance.”
The French-language track, written by her longtime collaborator Jean-Jacques Goldman, is a piano ballad that's classic Dion and showcases her powerhouse vocals.
“It was 2020. The world was stopping and yet people were dancing, confined to their homes,” Goldman said in a statement. “Six years later, the virus is gone, but there is no need to change a word, the world isn't spinning any more smoothly, and we are still dancing ‘above the abyss.'”
The pair have worked together many times over the years, most notably on Dion's 1995 album D'eux, which is among the best-selling non-English albums of all time. They last teamed up on the 2016 song “Encore un soir.”
A press release describes the song as blending “the elegance, optimism, and emotional depth that are hallmarks of both Céline and Jean-Jacques, along with fierce defiance in the face of instability and the joy of connection through music.” She also released an accompanying video filmed in Paris.

The five-time Grammy winner announced in March that she'll be making her long-awaited return to the stage this fall with a five-week residency in Paris, her first major performances since announcing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in December 2022.

The star is set to play 16 shows at La Défense Arena between September and October 2026.
In a video message to fans shared for her birthday, Dion gave an update on her health, and said the chance to perform again was “the best gift of my life.”
“I want to let you know that I'm doing great. I'm managing my health, I'm feeling good, I'm singing again. I've been doing a little bit of dancing, obviously,” she said. "This year, I'm getting the best gift of my life. I'm getting the chance to see you, to perform for you, once again in Paris, beginning in September this year. I'm so happy. I'm so ready to do this. I'm feeling good, I'm strong, I'm feeling excited, obviously. Of course a little nervous, but most of all I am grateful to all of you."
She concluded, "I can't wait to see you again."
Dion performed for the first time post-diagnosis in 2024 at the base of the Eiffel Tower as part of the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony. She performed again a few months later at the 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab fashion show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
