Bad news for fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Britney Spears performing in the States any time soon.
The singer, 44, vowed sheâll ânever perform in the U.S. againâ in a post shared via her Instagram on Thursday, January 8.
âSending this piano to my son this year!!! she captioned a throwback photo of herself on stage sitting next to a piano. âInterestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yup and itâs embarrassing sometimes⊠but I walked through the fire to save my life⊠â
Spears added that sheâs steering clear of taking to the stage in her home country but teased future international performances in the U.K. and Australia.

âI will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son⊠in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,â she continued. âHeâs a huge star and Iâm so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!â
While Spears did not name which son she was referencing in the post, she shares two children with her ex-husband Kevin Federline: Jayden, 19, and Preston, 20.
She previously described Jayden as a âgeniusâ in a March 2025 Instagram post that featured a video of her son playing the piano.
âIâm in awe of him,â she said in the post. âI canât believe heâs mine!!! I was honestly scared thatâs not normal!!!"

Last month, Jayden celebrated Christmas with his mom in California while Preston spent the holidays with the â... Baby One More Timeâ singerâs family in Louisiana.
âShe had an amazing time with Jayden on Christmas,â a source exclusively told Us Weekly on December 30. âThey laughed a lot and bonded more than they have in a while.â
Previously, the âGimme Moreâ singer performed regularly from 2013 to 2017 as part of her lucrative Las Vegas residency, Britney: Piece of Me.
She was set to follow up with her second residency, Domination, in 2019 but pulled the plug indefinitely before it kicked off, citing family issues.
âI am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family,â Spears said in a statement on January 4, 2019. âWe have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me.â
Britney Spearsâ Ups and Downs Over the Years
Spears continued, âThank you to all my fans for your continued love and support during this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.â
According to a press release at the time, Jamie Spears was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas two months prior to the announcement after his colon spontaneously ruptured. He was taken into surgery and spent 28 days in the hospital before being released to his home.
Jamie was a prominent figure in his daughterâs conservatorship controversy and the father-daughter duo have endured a rocky relationship over the years.
In a November 2020 court hearing, Spears said she was âafraidâ of her father, who was her conservator at the time, and said that she âwill not perform as long as her father is in charge of her career.â
Spearsâ 13-year conservatorship was officially terminated on November 12, 2021 and Jamie is no longer the singerâs conservator.
