- Brandi Glanville attempted a viral garlic home remedy to deal with her congestion.
- Taking advice from her 22-year-old son, she put the garlic in her nostril.
- The result was a painful burning sensation, prompting her to try putting the garlic somewhere else.
Brandi Glanville has (hopefully) taken medical advice from TikTok for the last time.
The *Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* learned an important lesson in checking her sources after turning to the internet for help with the common cold. On the latest episode of her *Unfiltered* podcast, Glanville told co-host James Maas that she recently got sick after catching a cold from her 18-year-old son.
"Jake came over and he kept sneezing in my face," she recounted. "He's like, 'I'm not sick anymore.' Like, cover your mouth when you sneeze. And then I got his cold."
Glanville then said that the cold completely derailed her weekend, sharing, "On Easter, I didn't do anything because of the garlic in my ear. I was trying to get it out."

Explaining how a cold let to an urgent care trip, Glanville shared that she was "trying to clear [her] sinuses" with a home remedy from the internet. The reality star originally put the garlic in her nostril — a popular TikTok trend recommended by her 22-year-old son Mason. But Glanville said she experienced burning with the garlic in her nose, so opted to try her ear instead.
"It was burning too much so I moved it to my ear," she explained. "It was like burning my skin because I'd just lasered it."

But a problem soon presented itself. "It really went down further and I had to go to urgent care the next day and get it taken out," she said of the garlic clove.
She advised her listeners, "Don't listen to people online or TikTok or Instagram or Twitter or Facebook."
Several social media users have promoted the home remedy of putting a raw garlic clove into one nostril to relieve nasal congestions. However, as the trend has grown popular, several doctors have advised against the tactic, pointing out that it is not backed by medical science.
Dr. Raj Sindwani, an ENT specialist, told the Cleveland Clinic in 2021 that garlic in the nose can do more harm than good, stating that it can cause irritation, infection, or trauma to the septum. He added that it can even make congestion worse.
"What you're doing is putting this irritant up your nose — one with a very strong and noxious smell," he said. "That irritates the lining of the nose, causing it to produce increased mucus while also trapping the mucus you already had."
As for Glanville, the latest medical debacle comes after the reality star spent several years trying to solve the "facial parasite" that she's been battling since 2024. Last year, she tried to kill the parasite by putting Nair, a chemical used for painless hair removal, all over her face. The results were less than ideal.

Glanville claimed that the parasite may have come from consuming food that was improperly stored while shooting Bravo's *Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip* in Morocco in July 2023, though she has not shared a specific diagnosis. She has since worked with a plastic surgeon to resolve her facial woes.
Watch Glanville recount her garlic clove adventure in the podcast episode above.
